Talk about remove any doubt. Man, just when I'm ready to condemn his debut performance for too many walks he makes a complete 180.

I thought his FB command was off early, mostly up in the zone. However, he had command of his secondaries early on especially the splitter which he continually had many swings and misses on.

I thought things really came together for him as he struck out Ellsbury on a called third strike FB, perfectly located at the knees on the outer half. It was sweet because Ellsbury thought it was a ball, it wasn't.

Even in the 6th with Ellsbury on 1st, he made two beautiful pitches back to back to Headley. A splitter on the inside he swung over then back outside that he couldn't reach. Just a masterful job.

He made a mistake with Teixeira on a slider that backed up, but overall a very good start.

The splitter/changeup is the key for him. He didn't have it the first game but it was working beautifully tonight. Classic Miguel. Always seems to raise his game for the Yankees. It would have been a tragedy to send him to the bullpen or Norfolk.
